01 Jan Team Release
A new year calls for new dreams, ambitions and a fresh outlook for our team. After exceeding our expectations since our launch 3 year ago our passion to further develop and drive the development of women’s cycling in NZ has grown even stronger. Watching our young riders thrive under a supportive environment that allowed for growth, life experiences and competitive racing, it was clear to see that our vision was creating pathways for our riders and inspiring the next generation of cyclists.
Our Mission
An elite women’s cycling platform; focused on developing the next generation of women cyclists and promoting the growth of women’s cycling in New Zealand
For 2018 our goal is to further develop our program to achieve this mission with a focus on the following key philosophies:
Race to develop | Mentor to succeed | Engage to inspire
The Team
The members of our team are what turns this vision into a reality. When looking at riders for 2018 we wanted the right mix of experience and new talent but most importantly combined with riders who believed in our vision and were striving to improve and believed in a team approach. The response to our recruitment campaign was truly unexpected with over 30 riders applying for spots and testament to the quality of riders coming through the NZ development programs.

Signing Lydia Rippon and Rylee Mcmullen from the successful Roxsolt Attaquer team has added a huge amount of experience, talent and leadership to our squad and combined with the raw talent that Libby Arbuckle brings from her track background and powerful time trialling ability we believe we now have a team of riders with an explosive mix of strengths, experience and leadership to inspire each other and the team to new highs in 2018 and beyond.
We are so lucky to be working closely with US UCI team Team Illuminate who has allowed us to include Mikayla, Grace and Georgia on our domestic roster. This is a big part of our “Mentor to succeed” philosophy of encouraging riders to bring back their experiences and talent domestically when they can.
Joining our existing support team of Patrick and Tammy we are very lucky to have the help of Jordan Gilmore. An accomplished cyclist in his own right and a teacher of bike mechanics at Otago Polytech Jordan brings valuable skills to our support team and will be managing the US trip later in the year as well as a support role in our UCI racing campaign in Australia during January.
Our Partners
With our naming rights sponsor returning for 2018 for its 4th year we are proud to announce that we will once again be racing as Mike Greer Homes Women’s Cycling Team. The support that Mike Greer Homes continue to give us is phenomenal and we love being associated with a leading building company on the forefront of providing quality homes for New Zealanders.
With Specialized returning as our bicycle products supplier we will be equipped with the very best product to achieve our team goals.
Once again the support from both Sandfield Information Systems and Red Stag Timber will be invaluable with both companies leading the way in innovation and forward thinking business strategy that is fully engaged with its stakeholders and community and a close relationship with cycling. Like us they strive to be the benchmark in their industry’s and strive for excellence.
Continuing our partnership with Pure Sports Nutrition was once again an easy decision. Sourcing a quality product using natural ingredients sourced and produced in NZ that tasted good had Pure Sports Nutrition ticking all the boxes.
To help with a new look for our team and to work closely with us to inspire and engage our community we chose Ninove Design. Needless to say the new kit for 2018 is fantastic and the work we are doing with Ninove to build our online community is outstanding.
In 2018 thanks to our very loyal partners and Cycling NZ we will be extending our reach a little further by offering racing opportunities in UCI races in Australia and the US.
